Alex's verdict

Along with Donkey, Puss in Boots was the best character from the Shrek series and clearly deserving of his own spin off movie. But can the booted feline make it on his own? Oh yes. This is a wonderfully entertaining film that recalls the magic of the first couple of Shrek films. Puss (Voiced by Antonio Banderas) embarks on an adventure with the friendly but scheming Humpty Dumpty - brilliantly voiced by Zach Galafinakis - that takes in the fairytale of Jack and the Beanstalk and nursery rhyme Jack and Jill. Great fun for all the family.

Alex's verdict

Legendary director Martin Scorsese delivers his first ever family film. A fantastical journey round 1930's Paris that follows the quest of young orphan Hugo (Asa Butterfield) to unlock the secrets of a clockwork man left to him by his deceased father (Jude Law). Scorsese's unabashed love for the world of cinema see's the story take in the very birth of the art of movies. Sir Ben Kingsley is magnificent as the mysterious toyshop owner and Scorsese's visual flair makes Hugo's home in the walls of a Paris train station a hugely impressive 3D experience.
